There are many social media channels. These include, but are not limited to, blogs, video channels (YouTube is the second largest search engine next to Google), podcasts, social networks, media sharing sites (such as Delicious, Digg), discussion groups (LinkedIn, forums, Meetups), directories, RSS feeds and the list goes on.
Before you can create valuable content, it is important to listen to the online chatter and conversations first. Follow your competitors. Monitor industry experts. Watch trade associations, professional groups, publications, big brands and companies who report success from online engagement, which could be lead generation, increased website traffic, additional purchases / revenue, loyal eCommerce shoppers who return, etc. Success is defined differently based on a company’s strategic goals and objectives.
